Mohammad Rasoulof was still living in Iran when he sent the script for Seven Days to Ali Samadi Ahadi, who had been exiled for a long time in Germany. Loosely based on the life of Narges Mohammadi, a human rights activist and 2023 Nobel Peace Prize winner, it depicts the moral dilemma of a woman, released from prison for seven days on medical grounds, who must choose between going into exile or staying in her country and continuing to resist. A story that echoes, in a premonitory way, the decision that the director of Seeds of the Wild Fig Tree himself will have to make.
